There is no reason for concern about the cardiovascular safety of Celebrex
The high profile of the cardiovascular safety of Celebrex is confirmed in the following studies:
- Long-term prospective study showed that Celebrex at a dose of 2-4 times higher that therapeutic one, prescribed for the treatment of patients with arthritis does not increase the risk of severe cardiovascular complications, as well as nonspecific nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
- A retrospective study of more than 54,000 elderly patients confirmed the absence of increased risk of myocardial infarction while taking Celebrex in comparison with other studied drugs.
- A recent study provided by FDA in the USA has studied 1.4 million patients. As a result, it was shown no increased risk of cardiovascular complications in patients receiving Celebrex. Moreover, patients taking the drug, much less recorded cardiovascular disease, including myocardial infarction and sudden death compared with those who received Vioxx in a dose exceeding 25 mg.
All three studies are conducted with the participation of independent security experts. Currently there were not received any data that could indicate a potential risk to patients while taking Celebrex.
With a proven profile of cardiovascular safety, Celebrex provides necessary pain-relieving effect in combination with lower when compared with traditional NSAIDs, risk of gastrointestinal bleeding.
